Evaluate before you renovate. This program funds feasibility studies to determine the technical and financial viability of natural gas energy efficiency projects in the commercial, institutional, and industrial sectors.

💰 Financial Assistance

  • 50% of eligible costs, up to $50,000 per gas account per fiscal year
  • If multiple sites share a gas account, one application may cover all
  • Multiple applications allowed with pre-approval (each capped at $50,000)

🧩 Who Qualifies?

  • Commercial, institutional, and industrial Énergir clients (existing or planned connections)
  • Projects must target natural gas savings or optimization
  • Studies must be performed by an Énergir-registered engineering firm

📝 Requirements

  • Must follow Énergir’s terms of reference (cahier des charges)
  • Must be approved before the study begins
  • Final study must include:
    • Baseline energy use and GHG emissions
    • Measure-by-measure analysis (energy, GHG, financial savings)
    • ROI, CAPEX/OPEX, and implementation plan
    • Forecasted rebates (Énergir or other programs)
    • Reproducible calculations with source documentation

🚫 Not Stackable With

  • Other Énergir study grants for the same measures
  • Studies focusing solely on non-gas systems (unless pre-approved)
  • Duplicate implementation funding based on the same analysis
